Their executive team tasked us with rethinking how the company showed up in the world — starting with a new brand and website. We developed a flexible design system and messaging framework that reflected the creativity, rigor, and humanity at the heart of 8th Light’s approach.
Brand Discovery and Messaging Direction
Stakeholder interviews across the organization revealed how the existing brand did not reflect the depth or distinctiveness of the company’s work and culture. We distilled those insights into a brand voice and messaging strategy that captured what it feels like to work with, or within, 8th Light. We collaborated with leadership to define and refine clear goals and metrics for the brand and website, encompassing awareness, amplification, lead generation, and talent acquisition. This new version of the 8th Light brand supports business and people strategies, positioning them as a software delivery partner associated with the craft values of education, ownership, humanity, and human-centered design.
Visual Identity System
In addition to updated logomarks, expanded palette and typography guidelines, and social media assets, the brand redesign included a custom graphic font. Based on the new 8th Light spark, this graphic font can be used as a design element and, occasionally, to conceal coded messages — perfect for a group of developers.
Responsive Website Design
To bring the brand to life, we designed and developed a responsive website that strikes a balance between aesthetics and utility. The site showcased 8th Light’s client portfolio, full-stack capabilities, and go-to-market expertise while layering the new voice and identity across every interaction.
