Founded in 2008 through the collaborative efforts of The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Joyce Foundation, and the Boston Consulting Group, Advance Illinois is an independent policy and advocacy organization working to foster a healthy public education system that will prepare students to achieve success in college, career and civic life.
In the spring of 2020, Illinois was struck by the COVID-19 pandemic, changing what school looks like for children and families across the state. To understand what Illinois' school communities are experiencing in this moment and what they will require in the long term to recover and rebuild, Advance Illinois hosted a series of focus groups in the fall of 2020 with high school students and parents/caregivers of students of all ages.
The 32-page report Multiple has created reflects those conversations' findings, calling attention to the participants' experiences and concerns.
